Required Family Volunteer Hours

Whether you help out at one-time events during the year, or have some time each week to contribute, your support is deeply appreciated -and up to a certain point- required ;-). OLG Parent Org volunteers are behind many of OLG’s most popular events, day to day school activities, field trips and more. Another way to get involved is by serving as a classroom representative—a liaison between parents/guardians and the PO leadership team. This is also a great way to get to know the families in your child’s class.

Regardless of what your preferred role may be, we do understand that many parents/guardians work full-time which may make our available time to volunteer at events or get involved in the day-to-day school activities, very limited. We all love our children and, undoubtedly, would love to be involved in our children’s education as much as possible, but are simply unable to commit large chunks of time. We have options for you and will be happy to assist you in any way we can.

While all school families are required to complete a set number of volunteer hours per school year, we strive to make the process as easy and flexible as possible so that completing your family’s required number of volunteer hours is realistic and fully achievable, regardless of your situation.

Required Family Volunteer Hours:

  • Returning Families:                                        50 hours
  • New Families (K-8):                                        40 hours
  • PreSchool/Pre-K (New or Returning):          20 hours

All school families are required to complete during the school year -as a minimum- the number of volunteer hours listed above. Worked volunteer hours accrue from June 1st through May 31st of the following year.  Unmet volunteer hours will be billed at $50/hour.

2023-2024 School Year Loop the ‘Lupe Exception:
An exception has been made to include the Loop the ‘Lupe event (June 8) in the 2023-24 school year.  When families log hours for the Loop the ‘Lupe event, choose whether hours worked will go toward the 2023-24 or 2024-25 school year.
